Many constituents, especially those of you who regularly use the trains, will be aware of the East Midlands Trains consultation currently underway.

We need to look at this very seriously at the effect of any possible changes to travel services on a rapidly growing area across both my constituency of NE Beds, and the Bedford & Kempston constituency.

The consultation is open for twelve weeks from 20th July to 11th October and I would urge you all to take part – whether you are a commuter, a regular leisure user, or occasional/rare user of trains across our area.

The Secretary of State says; ‘We are asking genuinely open, thought-provoking questions in this consultation because I believe that some of your answers will stimulate innovative ideas to find new and better ways of doing things, but I am clear that we will only do things that will deliver for passengers and which have the support of the public.’

Let me be clear; I cannot support a reduction in services through Bedford that will impact my constituents and others and am already seeking urgent clarification on the proposals from Department for Transport so we can understand the full impact of the options available.

I will keep you updated through my website and social media.

The document can be found here and the consultation pages here with details of how to respond and opportunities for public meetings.
